Within hours of release, a new version of MacDefender malware mutates to bypass the Apple security update 2011-03. Several other variants of the MacDefender have been earlier spotted and fixed through a software update. But the frequent release of another version instantly after one security update from Apple is a matter of concern. The iPad hype is a proving to be a good time for malware makers who are now using the latest Apple gizmo hype to spread their goodness* . Apparently this malware installs via a spammers spreading the word about a new version of iTunes that gives some extra features (“best performance, newer features and security.”) for iPad users. If you installed the fake update the malware which is a data harvester gets activated on your system.

Over the past few weeks as the news of iPhone worms struck us hard, highlighting the dangers of a jailbroken iPhone / iPod touch; a report now suggests that the non-jailbroken Stock iPhone’s aren’t as safe as they are perceived either. iPhone developer Nicholas Seriot has posted his findings which show a number of possible loopholes, that can allow a hacker to compromise the iPhone.
