Apple had plenty to announces yesterday at its World Wide Developers Conference in SFO. The announcements started with the updates to OS X i.e. Lion (on the same lines as they announced before) and then it moved on to the upcoming release of iPhone OS aka iOS 5 and the all new cloud service from Cupertino called iCloud.

We have been hearing iCloud rumors for long and a number of possible iOS 5 features were already out as obvious. (more…)

Apple has already seeded the another minor update for Mac OS X Snow Leopard – 10.6.8 to developers, according to a report by MacRumors. The build version (10K521) is likely to arrive exactly after two months of the public release of 10.6.7 which included many important bug fixes. Even as we begin discussing this topic, I wonder if the launch is in September, why hand out the devices to developers now? Either ways, the newest rumor on iPhone 5 is that its actually a 4S and is currently being tested for performance. While the iPad 2 announcement has take over the entire buzz yesterday, the Apple milestones announced by Steve Jobs are worth noting. Apple made several announcements yesterday and the most interesting one IMO is the amount developers have earned on the App Store. Apple has released the latest beta version of its upcoming iOS 4.3 OS to developers with (hopefully!) continued improvements and updates to the now old Beta 2. Apple has finally released iOS 4.1 beta and beta SDK 4.1 to developers today. The build no. of iOS 4.1 is 8B5080c and it has a new baseband which is 02.07.01 earlier it was 01.59.00 (iPhone 4).

iOS 4.1 for iPhone 4 weighs around 595 mB and 383MB for iPhone 3GS. It also includes a beta version of Game Center (again added), and the signal bars fix.

Gold Rush Part II 2010:

Apple has requested app developers working on iPad apps to submit their work by 5.00PM PDT on 27th March, to make it on time for the iPad launch on 3rd April. Apple already has over 150000 apps on the AppStore, but the iPad is a new game to quite an extent. Using the larger screen and structure, the scope for innovation with apps is much higher. Apple has notified its app developers that they cannot use location data collected from iPhones/iPod touch (and soon to come iPad) to deliver ads. However App developers can continue to use the location information to ‘provide beneficial information’ via their app. Many developers use inapp advertising as a revenue source and this enables them to offer their apps for free.
