Verizon CFO accidentally confirms iPad 2
Verizon seems to be on a roll. Francis Shammo, CFO for Verizon Communications, confirmed to Bloomberg in an interview that the second generation iPad will have embedded chip that will connect it to networks directly. So the MiFi 2200 device won’t be required. This iPad 2 would be slimmer and according to me will have CDMA chip that will connect it to Verizon networks directly. One thing is for sure, that the new iPad 2 would not be Verizon-exclusive for Apple will also offer the WiFi and UMTS versions of the same.
Verizon and Apple introduced CDMA version of iPhone 4 just today. However, looking at the blooming number of Android 3.0 Honeycomb based tablets, Apple does need to buckle up before many of them are made available worldwide. It would be interesting to see how iPhone Dev Team, Geohot, Chronic Dev and iH8Snow teams manage to come up with an unlock as well as jailbreak for these new CDMA devices. Digg founder Kevin Rose rumors that iPad 2 would be launched on February 1. Let’s wait and watch.
